Teak Care & Maintenance
- Clean with a towel and warm water 4-5 times a year
- Use fine grade sandpaper or steel wool to remove surface stains
- To remove silver gray color of natural teak, follow the instruction on any teal cleaner purchased from a local hardware or marine store (ie: Semco or Amazon products.) This generally involves applying a cleaning solution and then applying an approved teak sealer (not polyurethane) to restore the original color of the teak. To prevent the graying of the teak the sealer should be applied immediately when purchased.
- There are a variety of different color teak oils available for long lasting protection if you prefer to darken the color of your teak furniture.
Cast Aluminum Frame Cleaning
- Regular washing and thorough rinsing of the aluminum frame with mild liquid detergent and warm water will remove surface dirt, outdoor contaminants and body oils.
- To repair scratches and scrapes, use a small paint brush to coat the surface with an enamel paint. It is recommended that you do not use an aerosol paint.
Aluminum Frame Cleaning
- Regular washing and thorough rinsing of the aluminum frame with mild liquid detergent and warm water will remove surface dirt, outdoor contaminants and body oils. The periodic application of a good automobile wax on the aluminum frame (gloss finishes only) will extend the life and beauty.
- To repair scratches and scrapes on textured finishes, apply a textured or flat paint on the surface area.
- To repair scratches and scrapes on glossy finishes, use a fine sandpaper to prepare surface area, apply a few thin coats of spray paint to the sanded area, let paint dry and polish with a good automobile wax.
Wrought Iron Furniture Cleaning
- Regular washing and thorough rinsing of the wrought iron frame with mild liquid detergent and warm water will remove surface dirt, outdoor contaminants and body oils.
- To repair scratches and scrapes, use a small paint brush to coat the surface with "touch-up" paint.
- Twice a year, preferably spring or fall, apply a quality protectant.
- If a portion of your furniture should get bent, you can straighten or level the bent piece. This furniture is constructed of wrought iron, a malleable metal: therefore, by pushing firmly, you can straighten most pieces yourself.
Resin Furniture Cleaning
- To clean resin, use a mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive powders, chlorine bleaches or silicone cleaners. These cleaners can harm the surface of the furniture. You can also purchase a resin cleaner through a local dealer.
Tables
- Glass tops should be cleaned with any household glass cleaner.
- Tile tops should be sealed with clear sealant to avoid cracking during winter.
- Acrylic, Fiberglass, Marble and Mosaic tops should be cleaned routinely with a mild liquid detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly. Do not use any harsh abrasives (ie: Comet) or cleaners containing ammonia.
- Spills and Stains for Marble and Mosaic: Blot the spill with a paper towel immediately. Don't wipe the area, as it will spread the spill. Flush the are with plain water and mild soap and rinse several times. Dry the are thoroughly with a soft cloth. Repeat as necessary.
Umbrella, Sling & Cushion Cleaning
Before using any cleaning solution, we recommend that you test a small area for color fastness. Do not leave open & unattended, wind damaged is not warantiable.
Textilene
To clean textilene, a solution of 3 gallons of water, one cup of mild detergent and 1 cup of household bleach should be applied with a sponge and then hosed off with clear water. In instances where mold and mildew growth has begun or a stain exists, a commercial outdoor cleaner should be applied with a stiff brush.
Acrylic or Polyester
These are durable outdoor fabrics which should be spot washed with a soapy solution of liquid dish detergent and lukewarm water. Apply with a sponge and rinse clean water. Allow to air dry.
Cotton
Cotton cushions should be stored indoors or covered after use. The natural fibers of cotton will fade when exposed to harsh elements. To keep your cotton cushions looking good, vacuum regularly. Spot wash with soap and water. Allow to air dry. Cotton umbrellas should be covered when not in use.
Vinyl Strap Cleaning
- Regular washing and thorough rinsing of the vinyl strap with a mild liquid detergent and warm water will remove surface dirt, outdoor contaminants and body oils.
- Do not use harsh abrasives, cleaning solutions or bleach on the vinyl strap
- Do not allow insect repellents or suntan oils, lotions or blocks to come into contact with vinyl, as they may damage and discolor it.
